Blue Bonnets - Wednesday April 15, 2015

Becky drove us to Muleshoe Bend Park to see oceans of blue bonnets.

We also drove through Spicewood, Double Horn Road and Burnet.

This is the Spicewood Church of Christ. It's not very often you find one with a steeple. This outdoor chapel is called the tabernacle and is used during hot weather and for "dinner on the grounds". Becky's mom atttended this congregation as a girl.

We went home and picked up John and the 4 of us went to the Blue Bonnet Café for lunch, where I had fried catfish and okra. Becky ordered chicken fried steak so we sampled that too.

Then came the lemon meringue pie.                       And no, I couldn't finish it.

After lunch we drove up Mormon Mill road for more wild flowers. We even saw a wild turkey.

Anyone know what this flower is called?

After Bible Study we were privileged to help with the church’s food pantry. It’s in a house on the church property and is open 2 evenings and 1 day per week. We were able to provide canned goods, some meat, fresh potatoes and fruit to about 14 families. It was great fun to work together on this project.

  1. Fourth picture from the top is incredible! Wish we could be there, too, and wish we had made more time to visit when we were down last year! Wonderful scenery!

  2. It was like one of those infinity pools, but with blue bonnets!
