Remembering the Alamo and River Walk, San Antonio Texas Monday April 13, 2015

We couldn't take pictures inside, but the grounds were lovely
Becky chauffeured us to San Antonio where we toured the Alamo and sauntered along the Riverwalk. I can see why everyone recommended it so highly.

Having Becky along as a tour guide and history teacher was a double blessing

This Live Oak was 40 years old when it was planted here more than 100 years ago.

Flower gardens along the original aqueduct

A couple of beautiful old hotels near the Alamo

Lunch time visitors
We enjoyed lunch under one of the blue umbrellas at Rio Rio

The River Walk definitely requires a return trip to do it justice

  1. The hotels (from top down) The Menger dates to 1859 and is where Theodore Roosevelt and his Rough Riders indulged in a beverage at the bar. The Emily Morgan, built 1927, began as a medical arts building and later an office building and is now a boutique hotel. The hotels flank the Alamo.
