The hotels (from top down) The Menger dates to 1859 and is where Theodore Roosevelt and his Rough Riders indulged in a beverage at the bar. The Emily Morgan, built 1927, began as a medical arts building and later an office building and is now a boutique hotel. The hotels flank the Alamo.
