Santa Rosa, New Mexico, still Friday April 10

Santa Rosa is still a nice little town after our last
visit. It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years already.
This is where we had car trouble, ended up having to wait for a part, lost a couple of days and had to curtail the rest of the eastbound Route 66 tour. If you have to be stuck somewhere, Santa Rosa is a good place. They have a really great car museum here, which we toured during our last visit and have a hundred or so pictures to prove it.

Driving through it today, we can’t believe how much walking we did during those couple of days and how steep some of the streets were.

We stopped by to gaze into the Blue Hole. The water and the air temperature were both 16C or 61F so it didn’t seem as cold as when the air temp was well over 90F last time. There were no divers today, just a few kids in their swimsuits but only feet went for a dip while we were there.

So this ends Route 66 for us this time.

There are many places along the way that we’ll enjoy coming back to and exploring in more detail.

Now on our way southeast back to Texas via Highway 84.
